Taking a Ferry Across the Huangpu River

My apartment isn’t far from the Huangpu River, the biggest river in Shanghai. I guess some of you already know this from my cycling videos.

Last Sunday, I met two of my classmates near the Bund, which is just on the other side of the river.

I arrived at the appointed restaurant by subway because it’s the most reliable way in Shanghai. As I said goodbye to my classmates, I remembered that  I could ride a ferry to the wharf near my home, which was the shortest route back. Usually, I wouldn’t choose the ferries because they are always crowded with tourists.

That Sunday, I was so relaxed that I told myself, “Just be a tourist.” Then I took the ferry for 2 yuan.

It was as fun as I remembered.

I recorded a video before I boarded the boat and while I was on it. You can watch it here.

At the beginning of the video, you can hear a voice from a little girl saying “bye-bye” to the people on the wharf. I didn’t know her. She was just a happy girl standing in front of me with her grandma.
