Sentences that touched my heart today
Today, when I was browsing Weibo, some sentences touched me deeply.

They were from an interview with Wang Haoze, the third Chinese woman to participate in a crewed spaceflight mission.

She recounted a story from her time in grad school. Her advisor gave her a challenging project. She asked her advisor why she needed to do this since she might not become a scientist.

Her advisor told her, “I don’t expect you to have to do scientific research, but you must do everything you do now seriously. Whether you like it or not, whether it’s your life’s work or not. You should get into the habit of doing things seriously. Otherwise, by the time you find something you like, you will not be in the habit of doing things seriously.”

Wang said these sentences have changed her life.

And they did touch me when I watched the video.

At times in my life, I feel too tired to engage fully in my tasks. Sometimes, I believed the work I was doing was not important enough, so I completed it without putting in my best effort.

At that time, I thought myself clever and adaptable.

Maybe I was wrong, many times.

A Chinese Proverb

A few days ago, I wrote about some of my mistakes when speaking English.

Today, I encountered a similar situation, which reminded me of a Chinese proverb.

“Boiling dumplings in a teapot, having the food but unable to pour it out.” – When you read the Chinese text, you’ll get the ingenious point.

It means having all the answers but being unable to articulate them.

I’m still struggling, but I’m happy to share this proverb, especially for my friends here learning Chinese.

Hiking Plans for Tomorrow

I’m going on a hike again tomorrow.

This time we will go to a forest in Siming Mountain, which is one of the most famous places for enjoying autumn in Eastern China.

It’s so exciting!

That’s all for today. I need to pack up my hiking stuff now.

I hope I can share some pictures and videos with you the day after tomorrow.
