Small Talk

I’m a little tired right now because I haven’t had enough rest from the three-day hike. The scenery was stunning but hiking two whole days on foot was challenging.

I took some pictures and videos and will try to upload some this Saturday. Then I will share the links with you folks.

I’ve shared some of them on HelloTalk. If you use this app too, feel free to add me as a friend. Unlike this one, it has too many social functions. In my opinion, many of them are not good for language learning.

A Video of Birds

I’m so excited to share this video with you folks.

I was packing my luggage this afternoon. Suddenly I heard some birds on my window again. I put down the clothes I was packing and quickly set up my camera outside the window.

Then I finally captured a video of the birds outside my window.

But this time they were sparrows, not the ones I had seen last time.

And it took a long time for them to return since I had put the camera there.

Anyway, I’m so happy to have a video of them finally.

The Mid-Autumn Festival Holiday

We’re having a national holiday this Sunday.

It’s called the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday and will last three days.

Some of my friends have already started their holiday. They want to return to their hometown, so they will take two more days off.

I’m visiting a beautiful mountain village with my hiking friends this Sunday.

The weather forecast says it will rain there during the holiday. I think it will be good because the scenery will look different in the rain.

* Holiday types can be tricky!!

“National Holiday” refers to a case where the entire country is off work. For example, Golden Week is a national holiday. Based on your post, it sounds like you are using the right holiday type.

However, we do not say “going on a national holiday” in English. This is because we might not “go” anywhere (many stay home during national holidays).

Example sentences about national holidays:
“We’re off work on Monday because it’s a national holiday”
“Ah, the bank is closed, I forgot it’s a national holiday today”
“I’m going to visit Osaka during the national holiday”
